It was meant to be a quiet end to 2021 for Tammi and Tyler. Their last as a couple as they prepared to welcome their first child.
But life had other plans.
They should have been at home in Albany, instead Tammi and Tyler were 400kms away at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH), waiting anxiously as their premature baby boy, Hugo, fought for his life.
And for the next 2 months, Tammi and Tyler called Ronald McDonald House in PCH their home.
We were so thankful to be able to stay in the hospital, close to Hugo. In the first few days, I was still recovering from surgery. Tyler had to help me with everything – showering, taking my medication and helping me move around in a wheelchair. It was tough, but I don’t know how we would have coped if we’d been forced to stay further away.
Your kindness today will offer support to families far from home during the toughest of times.
All of our services are free for the families we serve.
