29 Aug The 2024 AFL Grand Final Experience
For the third year in a row, 20 volunteers descended on Optus Stadium, to raise vital funds for families with ill or injured children, like the Wheelers’.
The Wheelers’ from Leonora, arrived at RMH at QEII in November 2022 after their daughter Rosalie was diagnosed with High-Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. 600 nights (and counting) mum Ayla and Rosalie still call RMH at QEII their home away from home.
Being far from friends, family, jobs and school for almost two years hasn’t been easy for the pair but thanks to our Mission Partner McDonald’s and friends at Fremantle Football Club, they were able to enjoy a day out with an on-field interview and front-row seats to arguably the biggest game the West has seen this season.
While the Wheelers’ took to the pitch flying the RMHC WA flag, our volunteers went to work armed with QR codes selling tickets to win the ultimate footy lovers prize; a 2024 AFL Grand Final Experience valued at $9,333 generously donated by our Mission Partner McDonald’s and the Fremantle Football Club.
As the half-time siren sounded it was time to draw the winner ……
Amanda Klemm, was the lucky winner of the ultimate 2024 AFL Grand Final Experience:
- 2 tickets to the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final,
- $4,000 Flight Centre gift voucher,
- $1,000 additional spending money, and
- Round 24 Match Day Football signed by a Fremantle Football Club player.
As the clock wound down on the fourth quarter, and the Fremantle Football Clubs’ finals hopes slipped away, there was one thing fans at the game could cheer about as they left the stadium; thanks to their overwhelming support together they raised over $33,000 for WA families with ill or injured children.
We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our Mission Partner McDonald’s, friends at the Fremantle Football Club and the community. It is through initiatives like this that we can be here for families with ill or injured children when they need it most.
