It’s so much more than a room

We wouldn't have been able to be there for each other if we didn't have a place like Ronald McDonald House - Tammi, mum to Hugo, who was born two months prematurely.

1,102 Great Southern families have stayed at Ronald McDonald House WA since 2012.

Hugo with his Grandma, Annette

Annette’s Story

As Hugo’s grandmother, watching my daughter Tammi and her partner Tyler face Hugo’s premature birth and the agonising weeks that followed – while being 400km from home – was devastating.

But while Hugo was in Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) fighting for his life, it was such a relief to know Tammi and Tyler had the support, comfort and community of Ronald McDonald House Charities WA.

Ronald McDonald House WA provided so much more than just a room – it gave them a clean, comfortable space where they could focus entirely on helping Hugo grow stronger. And later, a place where I could visit my gorgeous newborn grandson.

Every time I see my grandson’s happy, healthy and cheeky little smile, I’m reminded of all the incredible care he received in his first weeks of life. I think of the support, kindness and sense of community Tammi and Tyler were greeted with at Ronald McDonald House WA. And I think of generous people like you, who made it possible for them to stay close to
their baby boy throughout his treatment - Annette, proud mum and grateful grandmother
